View on Divorce
I remembered once Lady Diana said, "May be living with cheating person is much easier than passing through the divorcing. It is awful!" . I am not sure I am agree with her saying that.
Yesterday I had lunch with Dr. Chan wife. She is from Taiwan. I like her because she is simple, devoted mother, good wife. I love to have conversation with her as she always has such various thing to talk with. After Lunch we went to have coffee at Star buck. I was commenting on the heart shape cookie saying, "Oh my, so huge". It was huge cookie, bigger than my face!. Suddenly I heard someone behind me said "Yah..Yah..Yah..for me I ate half and take home half."... I turned my head and I saw a very modernizely dress woman, well make up with a huge smile (bigger than my smile). In within one minute she invited me and Mrs. Chan to sit with her. I thought oh..such a nice friendly lady. Yes she was a friendly woman.
OK let me call her "Gitt", she is from Germany and living in Bangkok. In my life I had seen for the first time a woman who can talk more than one hour continually nothing but boring. I was speechless of her never stop talking for 45 minutes about her relationship with her adopted daughter. NO JOKING, for 45 minutes!!!!. (My way is ..yes as a mother I love to talk about my son too but there is a limits. How could you talk for 45 minutes nothing just about her daughter to a totally stranger just you met?? She can. OK that's doesn't mean I do not love my son or do not want to talk about him. I can talk about my son endlessly but you have to understand when you are with others , you have to use your sense). The rest 40 minutes was about her breast cancer. Again She preached. Well .. about her breast cancer talking was much much better than about her daughter.
I tried to break her conversation, I think 3 times because he won't let you talk. Like a sermon time at Church. I see her as a lady preacher instead of Tea Party with a new friendship with her.. No one can't talk as she went non-stop. I reached the point that she irritated me abit. If I am a lone with her I might be walk out after 20 minutes but Mrs. Chan was so polite and so human acting. The other reason, the driver was not with me yesterday so I have to leave with Chan.
The only break point I can do was when I brought up about our new US Presient then she talked about "Hillary Clinton".. She said " Hillary is very smart for not divorcing even her husband was cheating to the left and right. How could she throw away of her life of living, social, high class and her future position"....and continue said , "Look at how many Thai Women put up their Husbands having mistresses because they can't let it go the money, the social and the position..". I have such kind of conversation about women who put up the ugly men in their lives in Bangkok.
I questioned many back to "Gitt"..." How could you still lying down at night with someone who did not love you any more?'" "Yes, you might have all these material but how could you be happy? Real meaningful happiness?" " Are you ready for to suffer the rest of your life with idiot husband that you have?". Gitt said to me "Helen you can say that because you are not in her, Hillary's shoes". I told her "Oh yes, I can if I am in her shoes. look, how many couples divorce in US beside Thailand?" "Most women did not put up such horrible way to live on". Obviously there are lost of women did not put up such way of life seeing "The divorce rate". Some even happily divorcing not once but 2 3 or 7 times!. That was it, the 10 minutes conversation with Gitt about "Divorce" which was end up disagreeing strongly. Mrs. Chan sat there for more than one hour only saying ....Yes..yes...yes yes yes! she can't even come out with "NO"!
Gitt is a nice lady beside her conversation bored me very much.
A children cancer specialist doctor who is my neighbour in Gainesville, her divorce took only 2 weeks. Both party agreed, signed and finished the story. They did not want the Lawyer takes a huge part of money!
I came from a divorce parents which is not good but as time move on I was doing well. I do not want "The Divorce" but I am not ready to live with a cheating husband also. You want to bring up with "not fair for your child or children"?? I would say.....The children will move on. Sooner or later they will understand the reason of why the parent divorce. As me I understand why my parents divorce. It's not easy but life move on. So does the same as "DEAD". For me divorce is Dead of Husband. If the Husband would like to have relation with his child or children, of course the answer is very YES.
Our lawyer friend said...The divorce should be like sharing an orange by the two parties agreements. Like....
1. Cut into half evenly
2. One party should see, "I want the skin because I will do the Jam or perfume"
3. One other party should see " I want the seeds because I need the plants and make the juice'
OR
Fight over the orange so long that no one get the profit except the orange got rotten.
Divorce is not easy but why so many nowadays?

My Transplant Doctor
I like Doctor Hemming because he is very confident. He is young and smart too. I had heard his name often mention at the support meeting. Look at me now, I am happily living 2 year with very little medicine. I would suggest any of liver cancer patients who need a good doctor or even as a second opinion, please consider Shand at University of Florida. They will do their best! The transplant team at UF is superb.
For me, I thank the Lord for Dr. Hemming! As always..My God knows what is the best for me.

UF researchers make strides to improve liver surgery
Filed under Health, Research on Thursday, May 29, 2008.
Dr. Alan Hemming, chief of transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery at UF’s College of Medicine, has shown that using a more aggressive approach to liver surgery can prove successful in patients who were deemed inoperable by traditional standards.
“We are doing things that are very complex that could not be done a few years ago and yet getting the same success rates that standard, less complex liver surgery was getting 10 years ago,” said Hemming. “If you are a patient who is told you only have six months to live and there are no options but then all of a sudden you are given a more than 30 percent chance of survival with admittedly complex surgery, you would think that is a good option.”
Published in this month’s Journal of the American College of Surgeons, Hemming’s 10-year retrospective study focuses on 116 patients who were initially told by an outside hospital routinely performing liver surgeries that they were not candidates for an operation. These patients ultimately underwent more aggressive surgery at Shands at UF medical center. Approximately one-third of patients survived five years or more, despite an initial prognosis that they had just a few months to live.
“Surgical removal of liver tumors offers the best chance at long-term survival for patients with cancers of the liver,” said Dr. Todd W. Bauer, a surgical oncologist at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. “Over the past 10 years, significant advances have been made in the field of liver surgery which allow surgeons to perform potentially curative resections more safely for a greater number of patients and with better long-term survival. These outstanding results by Dr. Hemming and colleagues fully illustrate this progress.”
Hemming said the work UF basic science researchers are conducting to identify ways to protect the liver during surgery also could help increase the number of patients who could benefit from liver surgery and possibly make more livers viable for transplantation.
“Paradoxically, ischemia is OK, but the real problem is when blood returns to the liver,” said principal investigator Jae-Sung Kim, a UF assistant professor of surgery and of pharmacology and therapeutics.
As blood and oxygen flood the organ, the natural process by which cells eliminate their own weakened components to increase their longevity — called autophagy — malfunctions, causing damaged cells to build up within the liver.
“We found that if we use the autophagy process and selectively remove damaged mitochondria, it actually keeps the cell alive after the oxygenated blood is delivered back to the liver,” said Kim.
In animal studies, UF researchers found the activation of a key enzyme that is naturally produced when oxygen returns to the liver depletes two proteins that help regulate the cell’s ability to dispose of its weakened elements. “As cellular levels of these proteins are depleted, cell and tissue lose control, and the liver loses viability,” Kim said.
Kim said the next step is to work with pharmacologists to develop drug treatments that will bolster the proteins to keep the cell’s natural house-cleaning process on track, preventing cellular injury and improving liver function after surgery.
Bauer added that this research moves the field one step closer to identifying drugs that could prevent liver damage during surgery, helping to reduce complications at a time when liver disease is on the rise.
“Since liver diseases are steadily increasing due to increased prevalence of metabolic diseases such as diabetes, fatty liver and obesity, more patients may need liver surgery in the near future,” Kim said.

Woman to give birth after first ovary transplant pregnancy
James Randerson, science correspondent guardian.co.ukA 38-year-old woman is due to give birth next week after the first ever whole ovary transplant to result in a successful pregnancy.
The woman, who lives in London and whose ovaries stopped working when she was 15, became pregnant just over a year after receiving a donor ovary from her identical twin sister. The transplant technique will have limited application among women who are not twins because a transplanted ovary would produce genetically different eggs. For these patients it would be simpler to have IVF with donor eggs.
However, the technique offers the possibility of removing and freezing an ovary prior to cancer treatment such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The transplant was carried out in the US early last year by Dr Sherman Silber at the Infertility Centre of St Louis in Missouri. The patient had experienced an early menopause at age 15 when her ovaries stopped producing hormones.
Her twin sister, who has two children, donated one of her ovaries which the surgical team removed using keyhole surgery. Because both women are genetically identical, eggs from the donor ovary are equivalent to those produced by the patient herself.Transplanting the ovary into the patient involved microsurgery to reconnect blood vessels as small as half a millimeter in diameter.
Three months after the surgery, the patient had her first period in 22 years, indicating that she was ovulating normally again."To our knowledge, this is the first successful human intact whole ovary transplant leading to healthy pregnancy," said Silber. He will present his results tomorrow at the American Society of Reproductive Medicine's annual meeting in San Francisco. The surgical tour de force follows previous successes by Silber with ovary graft transplants in which a slice of ovary tissue is grafted onto an infertile patient's own ovary.
The first graft transplant to produce a successful pregnancy happened in 2004, also between two twin sisters.Silber also presented two other studies at the conference in which his team tested techniques for freezing ovaries for future transplant. In total, the team successfully preserved 27 ovaries, and for the first time five fallopian tubes."This sets the stage for a new chapter in reproductive organ transplantation," said Silber. "In addition to whole ovary transplantation it is possible now to consider fallopian tube transplant for women with irreparable tubal disease."

Pomegranate!
I had read lots of cancer patient blogs and learning that they are dealing different ways of "The Cancer Problems".. Some are quiet way, some are very lousy way, some are "trusting in God" way and some are with herbs medicine....etc... But I am so wonder and admire those cancer patients who fight with pride and bravery.
Cancer are still time to time in my mind even though 2 years free of cancer. I know this is because of too much reading and knowing that mostly cancer goes 1, 2 or 5 years then kick off till who knows. My neighbours in Gainesville, I know there are 3 kick the cancer off. Two are Breast Cancers and One is Lung Cancer. They are mostly over 10 years survivors. Again I say so, I trust in my God who knows the best for me. I will walk with him till the day that I die!
I can't stay at home long hours that time because I am so scare, so afraid, so unclear and so unwanted to die. I am so worry of leaving my son alone that asked Robins to promise me to remarry only when my son hit 18 when the time he can taking care of himself...I doubt it!! I was even thinking to pick the woman that Robins should marry after I go...bad wish. Turst me I can't go that far on Robins, he knows who he is.
Anyway today I blog one of my old "Talking Group" email! It's always start with "NOTE: Read or Delete "...

To all my dear one,
I have this Pomegranate Juice, like 10 dollars for standard or some big bottles are selling at $$$. I was drinking till I got this article from Dr. Arlo.... somehow he makes me think about this Pomegranate Juice. I am starting to feel....hummmmm real or not real and deal or not deal anymore with this juice.
I met this Pomegranate Juice Distributor at the beauty saloon in Gainesville. She handed me her magazine which explain what is Pomegranate? Come from Brazil and cure or prevent cancer, germs, cold, flu......OR you name it, including wired problems like male problems, female problems all can be cured. I did fall for hers sale talk and bought some. I do not know what is good for but I wee wee alot!
Arrived home have a look at the pamphlet that the distributor gave it to me. Some how I do feel there are so many BS in there. It said just selling "The Juice", you can become millioner or the owner of big yacht (typical Floridian, most rich people must have luxury yacht!), or it can do the wonder works!!
Then... I got this Dr. Arlo's writing about Pomegranate. He is right on that. May be that's why he got his PhD.!!! Arlo is good sometime!!! Well he is our friend for a long long time. I know Arlo on the day my honeymoon in BKK. That's mean he is our friend for 16 years!! In his writing said..........
"The label on the pomegranate extract claims that one-ounce of this juice has as much nutritional value as more than 15 pomegranates! I'm not sure how they figured that. You would probably have to ask the MBAs they hired to make up this kind of claim (i.e. Bullshit!! Arlo said that not me) while still not getting themselves sued for false advertising. But I am sure you would get a whole lot more than one ounce of juice out of 15 pomegranates. The bottle I bought for 25$ had 32 ounces of juice. At 15 pomegranates per ounce, this would mean they would have to squeeze at lease 480 pomegranates (15X32), to produce this one bottle. Pomegranates cost about 1.50$ each in the store. At that price, it would cost you more than 720$ to produce this one bottle that they sell for 25$!!, if you did it at home. May be it has something to do with the way they make tomato juice. Tomatoes cost from $1 to 6$ per pound in the store fresh, but you can buy a half-gallon of tomato juice for less than a buck!... A half-gallon of juice is about 4 lbs. I think it must take at least 6 to 8 lobs of whole, fresh tomatoes to produce one half gallon of juice. so the cost to make the juice yourself would be from $6 to $48 pre half gallon can, yet they can sell less than $1, and that includes the canning, shipping, ect.... may be the same people who make tomato juice also are making this pomegranate juice. I 'll have to check on that".................
I think Arlo is good on Juice!! I might talk to him and sue that pomegranate juice who already suck my money quit a bit too. Did you all see that nerd who sued the laundry company for 56 million dollars for ruin his pant!! Only in USA hah!
I am going to eat only fresh fruits now on but not that cowshit Juice!!! (Arlo said that ). I still have that pomegranate juice bottle and will go and have a look at the label now...........................
Have a good drinking juice day!
PS.. Dr. Arlo..thank you for educated me about Pomegranate!
I love you all,
bye bye
helen.

Mikhail Gorbachev admits he is a Christian
By Malcolm Moore in RomeLast Updated: 3:04AM GMT 19 Mar 2008
Mikhail Gorbachev during his visit to the Basilica of St Francis in Assisi
Mikhail Gorbachev, the last Communist leader of the Soviet Union, has acknowledged his Christian faith for the first time, paying a surprise visit to pray at the tomb of St Francis of Assisi.
Accompanied by his daughter Irina, Mr Gorbachev spent half an hour on his knees in silent prayer at the tomb.
His arrival in Assisi was described as "spiritual perestroika" by La Stampa, the Italian newspaper.
"St Francis is, for me, the alter Christus, the other Christ," said Mr Gorbachev. "His story fascinates me and has played a fundamental role in my life," he added.
Mr Gorbachev's surprise visit confirmed decades of rumours that, although he was forced to publicly pronounce himself an atheist, he was in fact a Christian, and casts a meeting with Pope John Paul II in 1989 in a new light. Mr Gorbachev, 77, was baptised into the Russian Orthodox Church and his parents were Christians. In addition, the parents of his wife Raisa were deeply religious and were killed during the Second World War for having religious icons in their home.
Ronald Reagan, the former United States president, allegedly told his close aides on a number of occasions that he felt his opponent during the Cold War was a "closet believer".
Mr Reagan held deep religious convictions himself. However, until now Mr Gorbachev has allowed himself to express only pantheistic views, saying in one interview "nature is my god".
After his prayers, Mr Gorbachev toured the Basilica of St Francis and asked in particular to be shown an icon of St Francis portraying his "dream at Spoleto".
St Francis, who lived in the 12th century, was a troubadour and a poet before the spiritual vision caused him to return to Assisi and contemplate a religious life.
Even in his early days, St Francis helped the poor, once giving all of his money to a beggar. As well as spending time in the wilderness, he also nursed lepers and eventually became a priest.
"It was through St Francis that I arrived at the Church, so it was important that I came to visit his tomb," said Mr Gorbachev.
"I feel very emotional to be here at such an important place not only for the Catholic faith, but for all humanity."
He also asked the monks for theological books to help him understand St Francis's life.
Father Miroslavo Anuskevic, who accompanied the former Soviet leader, said: "He was not recognised by any of the worshippers in the church, and silently meditated at the tomb for a while. He seemed a man deeply inspired by charity, and told me that he was involved in a project to help children with cancer.
"He talked a lot about Russia and said that even though the transition to democracy had been very important
for the world, it was very painful for Russia. He said it was a country which has a great history, and also a great spirituality."

I Need Jesus!
My question is ...A man who has everything, in his mid-sixties, a loving wife and good health..... But Why one day he wakes up and writes to someone that he is looking for what God can possible offer him. The man said, with no belief in God or a future life then why he asked what religion could possible offer them...Why?? Curiosity?? Need?? Seemingly he has everything so why does he need God?
Also I read, "When the sea of life is calm there seems to be no need for a storm subduing Captain in our little ship. But sooner or later our strength diminishes. We may suffer from a painful illness or some crippling ailment, we may be unable to care for others, or for ourselves, we may experience the loose of those we love, and the shadow of oncoming death will grow darker."
Let me share some of my back ground.... my great grandfather was a Monk, a mountain Shan monk....but with the loving, caring and sharing of a missionaries family about what is Christianity and the love of Jesus gave to us, he became a believing Christian. Now I am a 4th generation Christian. I give thanks to The "Young" family who introduced my family to the Christian God and are still doing missionary work today in the triangle area of Asia. They showed my family the love and goodness of God, and taught them the power and beauty of Christianity. My grandmother from my mother's side, is from China There was no God during here upbringing; but she is now a very devout believer in God, with no conditions for good times and bad.
Neither my mother nor my father forced me to be a Christian. I am a Christian not because of my parents are Christian, but because I believe in what the bible teaches. If I wanted to I could have been an Atheist but I just love Christ and I need him in my every day life. I have never heard that my parent or other told me " You must be a Christian". Till today I never tell or convert no one to become a Christian nor tell no one you are bad because you are not Christian. But, I will praise the God forever!
As I said before A true Christian mean....if you care someone, pray for them. The rest I believe in that "God will take care of it". If someone ask me why I love Christ...I can tell you why.
Last thing let me share you this..................
No God, No Potatoes
It's been said that in the former Soviet Union the peasant farmers often enjoyed telling humorous story to lighten their dreary lives.
It seem s that one day a government official came to a farmer and inquired about the year's potato crop. "Oh, it was wonderful," the farmer replied slyly. "it was so big it reached up to the very foot of God"
The commissar's countenance quickly changed. With a scowl, he said " But comrade, this is a communist state and we are atheists, you mist not forget, there is no God!"
"Ah That's my point,," The Farmer replied .."No God, No Potatoes!"
I love God the same as before my illness, but with my Liver Cancer controlled, beside the love I have for God, I firmly believe that God has a reason for me to live, not because I am special, but I am one of his children. I never failed in my belief when I lost my mum and and later my sister to the same disease. I am just so thankful that I had my God to walk with me those very painful days.
I need Jesus.

To Burmese People Only
Mingalaba!!
I got this YouTube from Rose, Who is living in Canada. Rose is a good looking Burnese girl who I worked with her at my first job, UNDP. Later I got the job in American Embassy and she moved to Singapore than to Toronto, Canada. She is not only just a friend but a very good, funny, sporty and generous friend of mine. She flew down to Gainesville, Florida when I was just got my new liver. It was a very nice of her for staying with me 2 weeks. We did drive to Ceder Key together with another friend who flew in from LA. Was a very good time together. She came to visit me in Bangkok also, I think back 3 years ago. Rose loves to travel every where. She always said.....Life is you never know so enjoy it every minute!
Good for you Ma Rose and thank you for being such a good friend to me.
I laughed for 0ne minutes because of the accent of the German Lady who sing the Burmese New Year song. It is very cute and funny. I do speak Burmese but I do not understand what this woman singing about (honestly!!), except "Thing Gyan"...and "Pan Padauk".
My English is not that good also. Time to time my son told me "Ma ma you have to say like this or like that..." ! Robins used to tease my pronunciation when he saw me 25 years ago. I told both of my men, "If you guy speaks 8 Languages as I do, you can master me in languages!".. Good Hah? Shan, my son is now speaking English and Spanish. Thai Language, he is very understanding but do not like to respond yet. He is taking 2 languages both speaking and writing in Bangkok and said "Ma ma I do not really like French, it is a bit difficult".
Anyway enjoy the music. I wish I can get this song Original in Burmese. Again thank you Ma Rose.
