Different Views

Last night dinner party, the conversation about Stem Cell is get into me. I came home and read till 1 pm in the moring because I knew that there are different views on stem cell. I have no problem with such as bone narrow treatment for lukemia. But the one last night I am talking about was something to do with the beginning of the life!!! it is call "Embryos"..This is the one I am talking about. Seen to me that we were talking about the different Stem Cells. I blog some thing that make me a bit see the picture more clear which is I wanted to share to day. Enjoy reading!!

QUESTIONS:

Although impossible, if it was possible for having our memories to be artificially extended, we would be able to remember the time when we were just tiny microscopic embryos.

Should an embryo, in the earliest stage of human life, entirely vulnerable, be subject to the whims and curiosity of scientists? Should scientists be allowed to choose this route to investigate human biology, genetics & potential medical cures - through genetic experiments on human embryos?

Whether you believe in God or not there is a sanctity to human life. Is curing genetic diseases and others, justify stem cell research and destruction of potential babies as valid?

We have no idea if any of this works. Or how it will work or what are the consequences. Will it cure genetic diseases right away? Is it by only understanding the world better, we can only help humans?

Are these scientists only helping you and your families to have a better future? Be the judge.

Stem cell debate: the issues
By Dr Amin Abboud

Regenerative medicine is an exciting new field of medicine in which different techniques, including stem cells, are used to repair damaged organs and tissues. The ethical issue is where we get the stem cells from. The destruction of embryos for stem cells research is ethically unacceptable.

What are stem cells?
Stem cells can change into many types of cells – heart cells, nerve cells, muscle cells, skin etc. Because of this capacity they may prove useful for treatment of some medical conditions .

Where do stem cells come from?
Adult stem cells can be taken from living humans (children or adults) without harming them. Embryonic stem cells come from embryos. The embryo is destroyed and its stem cells are extracted.

What are the benefits of stem cell treatment?
Stem cell research may benefit many conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, spinal cord injuries, heart disease and cancer. The new cells may be able to replace damaged tissue. The only stem cells that have helped patients so far are adult stem cells. Embryonic stem cell research has not helped a single patient.

Which cells should doctors use?
The deception that there is no alternative to embryonic stem cell research is propagated by those with a personal interest in destructive embryonic stem cell research. Successful and ethical adult stem cell research involves no destruction of embryos.

Is this a clash between religion and science?
No. It is about good science versus bad science. Good science is ethical science.

Why are some scientists pushing embryonic stem cell research if the use of adult stem cell is useful and ethical?
The key argument for using stem cells from embryos is they are easier to change into other types of cells. While this has some basis, the technology is improving so rapidly that it is hard to substantiate. The advantage of embryo stem cells may already have been superseded.

Why shouldn’t we use embryonic stem cells for cures and research?
1. It is unethical.
The process of obtaining them destroys a human embryo.
2. Embryonic stem cells can cause cancer.
Embryonic stem cells are versatile but they can also become malignant. Their potential for causing cancer is a real concern for researchers.
3. It is unnecessary.
Adult stem cells are proving to be a viable alternative.
4. The benefits of embryonic stem cells are a long way off.
Most scientists admit that the potential benefits of embryonic stem cells are still distant. However, many adult stem cell breakthroughs have already taken place.
5. The use of adult stem cells seems to overcome the problem of immune rejection, which will be a big problem with embryonic stem cells.
Our bodies quickly recognise and try to kill off foreign tissues implanted in them. By using cells from oneself, the compatibility problem is avoided.
6. Embryonic stem-cell research is not driven by hope for cure, but lust for profit.
Many of the cell lines are in the hands of private companies. The amount of vested financial interests is staggering.

What about ‘reproductive cloning’?
Almost everyone agrees that ‘reproductive cloning’ should be banned. But if we allow cloning for research, unscrupulous people will inevitably push for cloning an embryo to produce a child.

Does an embryo deserve the same respect as a person?
The human embryo is a distinct, living human being and is entitled to the same rights as any other human being. Human life begins at conception (or fertilisation).

Won’t embryos be destroyed anyway? Why not do something useful with them?
Those who argue that frozen embryos would be destroyed anyway miss the point. Couples had the embryos created for implantation and bringing about new life. The existence of surplus embryos is a scientific embarrassment and legal mess created by the IVF industry.

The Drinkers and The Cancers

Helen Note: This is from my morning Health New. I won't argue that right or wrong because I am not researcher nor doctor. I blog it because it is interesting!!

A glass of wine a day increases cancer risk by 168%

Wine drinkers beware! A new study has claimed that sipping just a small goblet of wine every day an more than double the risk of cancer.

The study by France's National Cancer Institute (INCA) says that consuming just a 125ml glass of wine increases the chance of developing mouth and throat cancer by 168 per cent, Daily Mail reported.

Other cancers are also more likely to strike regular drinkers, the study claimed.

The INCA study warned that 'the consumption of alcohol is associated with an increase in the risk of cancers - mouth, larynx, esophagus, colon-rectum, and breast cancer.

The findings go against previous research, which has found that the antioxidants in red wine can actually reduce the risk of cancer.

"Small daily doses of alcohol are the most harmful. There is no amount, however small, which is good for you," INCA President Dominique Maraninchi was quoted as saying by the news daily.
"The cause is above all the transformation of ethanol in alcohol to acetaldehyde, which damages DNA in healthy cells. This is particularly likely to happen if alcohol is introduced into the body daily - even in small measures," Maraninchi said.

Official figures show that alcohol is responsible for around 6 per cent - or 9,000 cases - of all cancer deaths in the UK each year, including 5,000 cases of mouth and esophagus cancer and 2,000 cases of breast cancer.

The INCA study said alcohol was now the second most avoidable cause of death after tobacco.

The findings contradict numerous other studies which have found that the antioxidants in red wine actually reduced the risk of cancer, and that a single glass a day was also good for the liver.

A separate study last year published in the medical journal Neurology said those who drank modest amounts of alcohol developed dementia, including Alzheimer's disease, at an 85 per cent slower rate than those who did not drink.

Thaksin

By now everyone knows who is Dr. Thaksin is! He is former Thailand Prime Minister. I got the following email from my friend and I love to blog along with my pure Helen's View!

Thaksin Shinawatra

Rite seeks to absolve Thaksin of 'past life bad karma'
By The NationPublished on February 18, 2009

Ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra's supporters held a rite at a Chiang Mai temple yesterday aimed at correcting "his sins in the past life" that were believed to have resulted in his bad karma.

Helen's View: I want to talk about saying "His sins in the past life" (BTY who can see some one's past life sins???).. I am not sure I was a sinner in my past life or not but I am a white siner (more or less likes, white lier??), in this recent life. OK.... put it this way, I am still a white lier sometime...ie., I told Robins that I am broke and no money!! ( I do have money so I call it this, a little white lie!! I know, I know ok this is not good). Who can see my white sins (or if I am sinning), beside God and myself?? Ok I am working on my white lie to NO LIE though! That's why I dare not to judge to no one beside my view or my opinion which is not always turn out to be true!!

The rite, a combination of animism, voodoo and Buddhism, was performed by the abbot of Wat Umong and eight other monks, as well as a pro-Thaksin trance medium. It was presided over by General Chaisit Shinawatra, Thaksin's cousin and former supreme commander of the armed forces.

Helen's View: I honestly tell you here that I do not know animism but I know what is Voodoo and Buddhism.

Here is the voodoo that I understand..... an African religion which believes in seven gods and uses spells and conjuring for personal gain or to hurt others.

When I was young this is what we were talking about voodoo in Collage with half brain of us. I was told that You can voodoo a man from who hate you so much into fall in love with you crazily!! Good voodoo ha? or Get a doll and poke with the needle with real hard (may be with hatefully), saying this doll is represents that the one you strongly dislike or buried the doll six foot under!! What a crazy talk ha? How foolish we are!! Well those day we do not have computer so may be this is the way young people talk? I haven't heard about voodoo for a long long time. I do not believe in voodoo.

PS... I got my Robins not by voodoo. I got him by my beauty, my talent and my views! (Well.... this is what I think at least!).

His supporters expected the Lanna-style ceremony to help relieve Thaksin of bad luck and ward off evil coming his way. About 300 people took part in the rite.

Helen's View: "Bad Luck"...Ok who can be good luck all the time in this world. Name me one! I would say very very very lucky to this person.

A large framed photo of Thaksin was placed on a stand at the venue. The fugitive ex-leader was unable to attend as he has fled abroad and lives in self-imposed exile.

A woman in her 50s, who is from the pro-Thaksin Rak Chiang Mai 51 group, acted as a trance medium.

She announced that in his previous life, Thaksin was a local warrior king who committed sins by killing his Burmese enemies and taking their money and Buddha images. The sins were said to be having a negative effects on Thaksin in his current life.

Helen's View: I would say Thaksin is very Lucky boy. See his past life was Warrior King not the little police. Then he turned out to be a Prime Minister in this life. Some one can be so bad luck that past life was a human being and this life can be a little bat or rat in the cave!!! Compare to this rat, he is still doing very good for this life.

Ok the Warrior King means you suppose to fight!! fight mean to kill the enemies sometime right?? This was his past life job, wasn't it?? Now, see as the new said Thaksin was sin by "Killing His Burmese Enemies"...Well thanks goodness he killed his enemies and not killing everyone who passed by him. I do not say my view is right but it does confuse me alot.

Offerings in the forms of coins, meat, rice, liquor and fruit were ceremoniously presented to an ancient Burmese king, before a Buddha statue.
Thaksin's supporters also included the naming of his political enemies - coup leader General Sonthi Boonyaratglin and People's Alliance for Democracy co-leader Sondhi Limthongkul - in the superstitious rite. It was supposed that the evil warded off from the former premier would be directed at them instead.

Chaisit, Thaksin's cousin, rejected a report that Thaksin "needed" the rite because he was ill. He said the rite was in fact aimed at "clearing off all the past sins" for Thaksin.

My conclusion: You know like it or not I will say that Not the only Dr. Thaksins need to clearing off all his past sins, We do should clean our past or this life sins. This will make all of us happy and more smily faces!!

Confidence

I had read 2 cancer patients blog this morning. One of the blogs which I like it very much is call "My Cancer"..by Leroy! Google him. He is a very good writer and worked for the news agency..can't remember ABC or ???

Both patients passed away. I am so sad! I have learn so much about cancer patients feeling..... the way they change, their believing, their priority and their ways of living. Somehow..my cancer also it does change to me too.

One of the cancer patients that I followed, she was so unbeliever. She is smart, so confidence in many ways. She clearly said that she did not believe in God but I noticed that she loved to talk about God a lot though! Even in her last blog...she did mention God words twice. I am still asking that why a person who did not believe in God but still talking about God so much??? Even me and her see the world so differently, even she disagree strongly on Christianity, I like her blog. she is such a good writer. Trust me, Her blog make me love my Christ more. How? I can answer every bit of your questions. I do have the answer!!

Last night I read .."IN 1994, a company opened for business in Houston, Texas. Within Ten years, it mushroomed to multi billion dollar, worldwide corporation. Million invested in its stock.

By 2004, the officers of Enron faced criminal charges, the stock plummeted, and those millions of people lost their money_some of them their life savings.

Many people believe only what they can see such as a financial report. They have no confidence in something they can't see. "

"Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed."
John 20:29

I did not see my Christ yet but I feel it each day. I will not betray because God is good. Lord, help me face life's problems standing on Your Promises. Help me to standfast in bad time or in good time with you forever. Amen!

Botox

Joans River, a good Botox?

Cat woman, bad Botox? They both might be a very nice ladies. I do not know them. In my blog....I am talking about only Botox, nothing more than that! They might be a wonderful people.

Botox, I like the sound! (Bo-Tok)? I have some friends who are getting Botox injection. They look good! They look young and the restless...beautiful! But....I had seen some got the result of C- also. Well...Thailand is also one of the most famous cosmetic surgery country. Over all, they did a good job here. People around the world come to Bangkok to do what ever they need to do or wish to do.

I am a woman...yes! I do like to be beautiful but can't take the pain is my problem. I also know that NO pin, No gain! I think about botox all over my body which is needed, getting my papaya enlargement, my face lift, and butt lift...what more??. Well woman after 40+ we all need to be lifted everywhere unless you are born with the marvelous gene...like Tina Tunner?? Wooooooooo what a woman!!! Still very hot at 60+. I think she might have some job but not sure.

Two weeks ago, I read about Botox in the Nation Newspaper of Bangkok. One of the young Actor suing someone for the bad result of Botox. His photo show "Drooping Eyelid". Poor thing need to be lived with Droopy Eyelid for 3 to 4 months. That's my worry, how about living with Droopy nose for 4 months??

I gathered that Botox was originally treatment for crossed eyes, cervical dystonia, excessive blinking, anal fissure, excessive salivation and migraine.....more.

My thinking is "Botox".....pleasing yourself or pleasing others?? If this is pleasing to others...won't last. In this world, yes.... the first impression is the look but it won't last. I have seen beautiful people but attitude is suck! If you have both, Botox face and nice attitude, this is the BEST!!
Here some of my research!

Botulinum toxin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Links to deaths

In September 2005, a paper published in the Journal of American Academy of Dermatology reported from the FDA saying that use of Botox has resulted in 28 deaths between 1989 and 2003, though none were attributed to cosmetic use.

On February 8, 2008, the FDA announced that Botox has "been linked in some cases to adverse reactions, including respiratory failure and death, following treatment of a variety of conditions using a wide range of doses," due to its ability to spread to areas distant to the site of the injection.

In January 2009, the Canadian government warned that botox can have the adverse effect of spreading to other parts of the body which could cause muscle weakness, swallowing difficulties, pneumonia, speech disorders and breathing problemsSeveral cases of death have been linked to the use of fake Botox.]

Side effects

Side effects can be predicted from the mode of action (muscle paralysis) and chemical structure (protein) of the molecule, resulting broadly speaking in two major areas of side effects: paralysis of the wrong muscle group and allergic reaction. Bruising at the site of injection is a side effect not of the toxin, but rather the mode of administration. In cosmetic use, this means that the client will complain of inappropriate facial expression such as drooping eyelid, uneven smile, loss of ability to close the eye. This will wear off in around 6 weeks. Bruising is prevented by the clinician applying pressure to the injection site, but may still occur, and will last around 7 - 10 days. When injecting the masseter muscle of the jaw, loss of muscle function will result in a loss or reduction of power to chew solid foods. All cosmetic treatments are of limited duration, and can be as short a period as six weeks, but usually one sees with an effective period of between 3 and 8 months. At the extremely low doses used medicinally, botulinum toxin has a very low degree of toxicity.

Reported adverse events from cosmetic use includes headaches, focal facial paralysis, muscle weakness, dysphagia, flu-like syndromes, and allergic reactions.

There has been a petition by Public Citizen to the FDA requesting regulatory action concerning the possible spread of botulinum toxin (Botox, Myobloc) from the site of injection to other parts of the body (HRG Publication #1834).

Impossible?

I won't compare my life to Obama! There is nothing to compare ... He is the President Of United State and I am just Robins's wife! See the point??? So..... I won't compare but I taste my life from impossible to possible too.

I was born in Shan State, Burma. My parent understand that education is very important as guiding by some foreign mission people living in Shan State. I got into one of the best high school in Rangoon, Saint Augustin, then got my bachelor of Science from Rangoon University. After that got my French Diploma from Foreign Language Institute then Accredited Gemologist from Bangkok!! At the end I got married into a Successful Business Man from the State.

The time when my friends were crazy to go out from Burma, I was very happy working at the US Embassy in Burma. When my friends were getting married, I was happy working in Hong Kong/Macao. For me to go to the State is never in my dream because I have no money. Now I have money by marrying!! Ha, life is possible!.. Now I see Not only America but also many countries, Life is possible.

Before I know only few friends in Burma ..now I know so much friends such as... hospital bus driver, shop keepers, brokers, bankers, doctors, ex-President, Prime Minister, Princess, Rev., Nuns, Pastor, Scientist, Producer, Rocker, Mayor, Governor...Life impossible in Burma..now Possible!

I am counting my blessing. Deep down in my heart I know that where this blessing come from. I can't answer everything but one thing..I can answer for myself!

Life can be possible for you and me! Bottom line if you are honest and not lazy!!!

Nothing is impossible in life
