Open Letter to Shakira
I just read CNN new on my blackberry. I saw that You, Shakira enters Arizona immigration law fight. When I saw this headline news I was so curious that what are you fighting for! So I continued to read and some how I understand more or less what you are fighting about.
You said, "The mayor is very , very worried, as well as the chief of police here, " "They're both very worried about the impact that implementation of this law will have on Latino families, the level of abuse that will be inflicted on Latinos, with or without papers."
I am not understand you. Why this law will inflicted on only Latinos? Do you really really think that my country, The United State of America is lawless, stupidly and unfairly will beat up on only Latinos??
Lets see the law said, "require immigrants to carry their alien registration documents at all times." Right? Did not say "The Latino Immigrant" but said, "Immigrants" means, all Shakira.
I used to live in Hong Kong and Macau for 4 years. Let me tell you my dear, I have to carry my document "ALL THE TIME". By the way I also have to tell you that I am SHAN/BURMESE. Further more to share you with my own experience, Macau is full of Burmese Immigrants. You take the Burmese, the Thai, the Filipino and Mainland Chinese from that Macau (that time was under Portuguese), it will be left very small population too. What I mean is.... yes, the police can check anytime they want on all of those people. Not on only Burmese because the Burmese in Macau just look like Chinese and they are Burmese/Chinese!!!!!! What I mean is, even you look like Chinese you don't ever expect that you will not get check! Oh yes you will....! The points is, if you want to live in Macau you better listen the Macau/Hong Kong law. No one above the law Shakira!!
One more thing to educate you is..... we all look a like in Asian and we can't say you check Burmese more than Filipino or you check Thai more than Chinese. The authority will check who they think to check up! You know some Filipinos just look like Latino!! Trust me on that too Shakia. I even look like Filipina you know that!!
Now back to Arizona. Racial Profiling is you are worry about right??
In Arizona full of Chinese, Russian, Burmese, Filipino, I bet there will be some Jews, Indian, Vietnam, Thai, Lao and many more list to go on............... Right Again? Well... I understand that unfortunately more Latino than others people there but remember I said, we Asian , some look like you Shakia if they paint the hair colour like you!!! Now, On these so many different people, why you just wanted to fight for only Latino???
You also said, "I (Shakira), just met with some families and women who have been subjected to domestic violence, and they are so concerned," ... Well what I understand you here is, women worry to call the police when they get beat up from their men because they do not have the legal document, right?
Then Why don't you educated the men not to beat their wives up instead of you want to change the law? Come on Shakira, sound like you a bit selfish on that don't ya??? When the black or white or the yellow women got beat up by their men, yes free choice to call the police so does Latino too. Free choice!!!
To be fair on Latino Shakira, some Asian man beat their wive up too. For sure many are do not have legal document either. Other round, Asian women like to chop up their cheating husband packers off too!
Shakira..... come on, nowadays we live in different world. We are facing many threats and problems but here you are just thinking more of your people than our United State's Security???
You also said, "If this law was already in effect today, for example, I could be detained and arrested and taken away because I don't even have my driver's license here. I'm completely undocumented here."
I am completely lost on your saying.
OK I do not know where you live but let me tell you do you know What is call, "Passport"? Carry your freaking passport! I just visited to Hong Hong 5 months ago and I have or I must to carry my passport all the time or lock it in the save box and runs around with my PP's copy for to prevent loosing!!! The police are not that stupid you know. If I even got check up in other country or say, I am not carrying my PP then tell the truth to police that "Locked it up at my Hotel room", the police will let me go get the PP may be with them. So what the fuss Shakia.
I have some Burmese people who I knew. They are in Florida living under condition of Political Asylum. They must carry their special document all the time!! Period!! So Shakira, not only your people need to carry the paper but there are some Burmese too. Help them too if this is the case so to speak as yours.
By the way. What do you mean you said, "I am completely undocumented in here (Arizona)"??? You come to USA without PP and VISA?? Or just crossing the border.
Shakia, if I have to tell you how I become an US Citizen, you will understand or you will cry why I am writing to you this open letter.
After 17 years of marrying to an American, by the way legally married wife not mistress and after many many many trips to Immigration offices, after many cost, after oral and wirtten test by Immigration officer, I become American which I am very poud to be one of them. Yes.. knowing how I become US Citizen, I do not want US Laws treated ME the same level of those illegals. (Of course I am not talking about Latino illegal, I mean to all those illegals people, even from outer space if there is one!!).
Finally I say to you Shakira, looking back the history of the founding fathers of USA.... yes like it or not they are mostly White and some black. From then we built colourful United State of America. Which is good because I am yellow. Once we become American, we are American. On Bible, I swear on my naturalization day saying, "I will protect United State when the time need all of us." I dwell on that and I will because I love America!!
Oh oh oh, forgot to tell you that.. USA gave me a new LIVER too! I am so thankful to my US Doctors, US Nurse, my US Husband and my US Hospital, it calls Shands of University Florida. LOVE YOU GUYS!!! Mucha Amor Para Ustede..........
Well, Hope you read my Shan/American's English and understand what I want to say to you. By the way Shakia, Yo soy puede habla Spanol mui bien! Si tango tempo por favour me yama. Here is my Cell phone number...@#$%^&*()@!!
By the way you are very good at singing. I like some of your music (not all), and dance with it too! You are very talented. For your information, I like lady ga ga and Amy Winehouse!!!
Bye bye Shakira,
Helen of Bangkok!!

28th Wednesday April 2010, What happened in Bangkok!
It remind me the day similar problem starting in Rangoon. I think it was 1986. I remembered I was standing by the big glass door at the US Embassy (where I worked), and looked out the people running around on the streets. I was one of them!!! One day I was walking from the Embassy to Inya Myaing Road for may be..... more than one hours. It was such a long walk and painful.
The different I see here is................. the Burmese Army shot and killed lots of people but the Thai Army was very gentle.
It is sad to see a police man died yesterday. In USA if one of your fellow police falled the rest will get you well. I have not seen such unity in other country/countries.
Robins bought some rice, noodle, water, etc................ yesterday on the way back from the office. People expected there will be something going to happen last night but was nothing.
Well lets see what is this heading to for how long...........................???
"10.30am: Kwanchai Praipana leads 2,000 red shirts on a march, along with a convoy of trucks and motorcycles, from Rajprasong intersection to Thai Market in Pathum Thani. The march is seen as an act of defiance against the Emergency Decree. The reds say they want to show moral support for the 11 protesters arrested for blocking traffic.
12.20pm: The procession arrives at Lat Phrao junction at the mouth of Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road, a main route linking the capital to Pathum Thani province.
1pm: The reds travel past Don Mueang Airport before Kwanchai orders a halt about 2 kilometres from the National Monument, where cordons of riot forces are waiting to block the procession. The tail-end of the red procession is near the Air Force headquarters.
Kwanchai dispatches a team of motorcycle riders to break the security line, as riot forces order newsmen and bystanders to leave the scene.
1.30pm: Negotiations between the reds and the riot forces reportedly collapse. Clashes erupt as the riot forces begin firing rubber bullets. Confusion ensues as some red shirts are seen armed, and the riot forces are authorised to fire live ammunition in self-defence.
1.40pm: Two helicopters fly over the scene presumably to monitor the clashes.
1.45pm: Red-shirt leader Wisa Kanthap makes an urgent plea from the Rajprasong rally site, urging the reds near National Monument to rush to reinforce their fellow protesters. Wisa also asks the reds at Rajprasong intersection to help defend their rally site for fear that the authorities might take advantage of the precarious situation by cracking down on ebbing crowds.
1.49pm: The red shirts at the end of the procession on Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road seize a number of container trucks to block off inbound traffic in retaliation for the clashes.
2.09pm: Red-shirt leader Jatuporn Promphan calls for the reds on the march to return to Rajprasong. Another leader, Suporn Atthawong, says Kwanchai is on his way back to the main rally site.
2.20pm: Riot forces detain about 10 red shirts for provoking security personnel resting inside a school compound.
2.30pm: The situation remains tense as hundreds of red-shirt protesters continue to confront the riot forces despite Kwanchai apparently abandoning them. The remaining reds try to regroup and take over a petrol station nearby.
2.50pm: The riot forces launch crowd dispersal operations by firing more than 300 rubber bullets and tear gas canisters. There is a big commotion coinciding with a heavy downpour.
3.15pm: Riot forces move to gain control of the area previously occupied by the red shirts at the tail-end of the procession. A few protesters continue to linger on the elevated tollway, with some throwing ping-pong bombs to harass the riot forces.
3.25pm: The riot forces conduct a sweep of the tollway and a nearby overpass before securing the area and ending the stand-off.
5.19pm: Riot forces and the remaining red shirts agree to end the confrontation near Zeer Rangsit shopping mall.
5.25pm: Kwanchai appears at Rajprasong intersection, explaining how he wore a disguise and hopped into a taxi to escape. He claims Pheu Thai MP Chalerm Yoobamrung had alerted him about an imminent sniper attack. Chalerm denies ever calling Kwanchai.
5.40pm: Normalcy returns to Vibhavadi-Rangsit Road.

Noah's Ark
FOXNews.com
The remains of Noah's Ark have been discovered 13,000 feet up a Turkish mountain -- according to a sensational claim by evangelical explorers.
A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers say wooden remains they have discovered on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey are the remains of Noah's Ark.
The group claims that carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old, meaning they date to around the same time the ark was said to be afloat. Mt. Ararat has long been suspected as the final resting place of the craft by evangelicals and literalists hoping to validate biblical stories.
Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah's Ark Ministries International research team that made the discovery, said: "It's not 100 percent that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99.9 percent that this is it."
There have been several reported discoveries of the remains of Noah's Ark over the years, most notably a find by archaeologist Ron Wyatt in 1987. At the time, the Turkish government officially declared a national park around his find, a boat-shaped object stretched across the mountains of Ararat.
Nevertheless, the evangelical ministry remains convinced that the current find is in fact more likely to be the actual artifact, calling upon Dutch Ark researcher Gerrit Aalten to verify its legitimacy.
“The significance of this find is that for the first time in history the discovery of Noah’s Ark is well documented and revealed to the worldwide community,” Aalten said at a press conference announcing the find. Citing the many details that match historical accounts of the Ark, he believes it to be a legitimate archaeological discovery.
“There’s a tremendous amount of solid evidence that the structure found on Mount Ararat in Eastern Turkey is the legendary Ark of Noah,” said Aalten.
Representatives of Noah's Ark Ministries said the structure contained several compartments, some with wooden beams, that they believe were used to house animals. The group of evangelical archaeologists ruled out an established human settlement on the grounds none have ever been found above 11,000 feet in the vicinity, Yeung said.
During the press conference, team member Panda Lee described visiting the site. “In October 2008, I climbed the mountain with the Turkish team. At an elevation of more than 4,000 meters, I saw a structure built with plank-like timber. Each plank was about 8 inches wide. I could see tenons, proof of ancient construction predating the use of metal nails."
We walked about 100 meters to another site. I could see broken wood fragments embedded in a glacier, and some 20 meters long. I surveyed the landscape and found that the wooden structure was permanently covered by ice and volcanic rocks."
Local Turkish officials will ask the central government in Ankara to apply for UNESCO World Heritage status so the site can be protected while a major archaeological dig is conducted.
The biblical story says that God decided to flood the Earth after seeing how corrupt it was. He then told Noah to build an ark and fill it with two of every animal species.
After the flood waters receded, the Bible says, the ark came to rest on a mountain. Many believe that Mount Ararat, the highest point in the region, is where the ark and her inhabitants ran aground.
Helen Said: I no need to see the Noah's Ark nor to touch it for to believe in what Holy Bible's say. I am glad people are interesting to find out that is there Noah's Ark some where on this world?? I share this article because it is interesting.
I used to read bible stories to my son when he was around 6 years old and Noah's Ark is his favorite. Even I like it!! I believe, in God there is nothing impossible. I can't prove it but for me, I am waiting to see that one day all this will be reviled. Mean time........
I am waiting faithfully!

RED, Red and red!!!!
I was in Central America where Robins was working with his Shrimps prior of Thailand. In and out to USA 3 times a year cause short trip from Guatemala. People said Guatemala is dangerous but for us we were never in danger. A handful of good friends and love them.
Bangkok is a nice place to stay. People are smiling, eating, selling or talking, I would say full of happy people. Now people are walking all over the streets with RED SHIRT!!! OK now if I say about RED SHIRT PARTY hope you know what I am talking about. Most of them are unfortunate people or simply said poor people in Red Shirt party. Can say Thaksin followers?? Why?? Said, Thaksin care about them. I do not want to get into detail which I do not want to. OK mainly the rich and the poor is one of the problem.
I have one question. Tell me which country in this world do not exist poor or rich or middle class??? For me the poor needs the rich and also the rich need the poor too.
I have a woman who is working for me. She cooks for us and she is also very "RED". She can't wait to go the "RED" gathering place. One day I found out that she goes there not for the reason of real "RED" but said to me, "I want to go there make money!!" I said, "How?". She said, "Giving massage and I get one hours 100 bath!" I can only say... Amazing Thailand!!!!!
I was sitting at home since I came back from my holiday but yesterday I am starting to move! I went to pick up my jewellery. Today I am going to Furniture Show with my Taiwanese Friend again. Of course with my Tennis Shoes in case I must run!!
Bottom line, my thought and prayers are with Thai people!! Our Church has been praying since the problem started. I will never know what is the Answer will be but I trust! God knows the best!!!!

Yesterday!
By the blessing, Yes..... I am very happy for the good results!
My Blood pressure was 124/71. The nurse said "Vely Goot". My heart beat was 70. The Immune level was 50, so I need to shoot up. Also time for me to check up my eyes, my teeth so got the appointments for next week. Prograf can give some trouble if I am not taking care of my eyes or my teeth. Well this is what I was told.
There is a nurse who I really like her. She does has this nurse personalities..... smile, kind, caring, tender most of all, she can give you the injection without pain at all. Trust me, I even did not know when the needle poke into my butt. She is very tiny, not tall at all, I would say she is about4"8" but has a very pretty face. A sweet face!!
I got 2 immune injections yesterday. We (the nurse and I), were talking right at that moment I got out from the bed + my mouth was so busy talking to her. So much busy talking that I forgot I was wearing skirt and forgot to pull it up. When I remember about my skirt, I noticed that my skirt was on the floor like a flower. I was standing there with my only underwear!!! Isn't it bad??
Lucky I was wearing good looking under wear. The nurse covered her eyes and laughed to dead for 5 minutes. She was keep saying, "Chun mai hean na ka!" means, "I did not see OK!". Yeah right,,,then why she covered her eyes??? I do not feel shy a bit at all.
The main reason I brough up about this tinny nurse is...., She is 29 years old and said no boy friend! I told her, "You are pretty and with your job as a nurse, you could have found a nice man in your life by now?" She answered, " In Thailand 29 years is an old spinster. No one want old woman!" In my mind I said, Damn fool is she know my age???
Well before I left I said again to her, "Do not give up, you are pretty so keep looking!!!" Right there, She graped my hand and leaded me to the mirror and said, "Look see here, I just got a Botox yesterday. On the side of my eyes, on my laugh lines and a little bit on my forehead!" and continued, "Khun Helen do you want it I have a very good doctor friend who done this work!" I told her, "I would love to but as living with a new liver, I do not want any toxin into my body!" But curiously I asked, "How much it cost you?" She said, "16,000 Bahts!"
I found out her salary is around 20000++ baht and she is only 29 years old. Is she really need Botox??? I told her, "you should rather save your money for a new house or for the food! This Botox is not lasting and yo have to repeat it right?"
She said, "Right but I want to be look young!"
I understand!!!!!!!
Do I like Botox? Yes I do but I can't do it. I know what I am talking about!

You knows the best for all of us. Lord, I beg and pray to you please may you be with all those cancer patients and with their families. Thy mercy be with us my God, please.
In Christ name,
Amen"

Mumbai, April 21: Cancer can be controlled and prevented, believe experts. With simple lifestyle changes and keeping oneself active, development of cancer can be prevented. There are more than 100 types of cancer which can affect any part of the body. Cancer along with heart disease and stroke, diabetes and chronic respiratory disease are affecting the world over.
Cancer continues to be the leading cause of death worldwide with as many as 13 percent (7.4 million) dying due to cancer. The number of global cancer deaths is estimated to increase 45 percent from 2007 to 2030 (from 7.9 million to 11.5 million deaths).
By 2020, cancer could kill 10.3 million people per year unless we act and there could be an increase in the new cancer cases by about 50 percent. If proper action is being taken now, them at least 2 million lives can be saved by 2020 and about 6.5 million lives by 2040.
Lung cancer kills people more than any other type of cancer. In developing countries, cancers like prostate, breast, colon, stomach and liver are seen to affect people.
Going by this year’s World Cancer day theme, “Cancer can be prevented too,” taking early actions can help in saving millions of lives from getting affected. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Union Against Cancer are working together to address the cancer situation at a global level and to promote concerted action against cancer. One of the many possible solutions includes prevention.
The four main risk factors of cancer are tobacco use, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity and harmful use of alcohol. Taking control of these can prevent more than 30 percent of cancer, says a 2005 study by international cancer collaboration. Proper knowledge about the disease and its causes, preventive measures and how to manage the disorder is important.
Tobacco remains the number one cause of cancer and giving up smoking and tobacco chewing can prevent from getting lung and oral cancers.
Reduced consumption of alcohol can cut down risks of cancers like breast, bowl, liver and mouth.
Physical inactivity is a one of the biggest lifestyle measures that can prevent breast and bowel cancer. Activities like brisk walking, gardening or doing any kind of housework for at least 30 minutes a day can slash risk of cancer.A simple balanced diet consisting of high fiber, fruits and vegetables and less in red meat and processed food, sugar and saturated fats is considered to be ideal for reducing the risk of cancer. Statistics show that one-fifth of all cancers worldwide are caused by chronic infections such as human papillomavirus (HPV) causes cervical cancer and hepatitis B virus causes (HBV) causes liver cancer. Practicing safe sex can help in preventing transmission of such virus from the infected person. Cervical cancer, which is caused by HPV, is a leading cause of cancer death among women in low-income countries.
A major risk factor that causes skin cancer or melanoma is undergoing tanning sessions in the artificial sun beds. The use of artificial UV rays for skin tanning can lead to serious damages to the skin.
Prevention is a key to reduce the risk factors of cancer and other non-communicable health disorders like heart disease and stroke, diabetes, and chronic respiratory disease. Also read: How to survive breast cancer

Mafia's Money
Got my google liver cancer news. Read an article about a very wealthy Mafia man left his money to the poor! I know less about Mafia so I dug up more about Mafia and found some interesting about what and who the Mafia is.
The cyclopedia said...........,
"There are several theories about the origin of the term "Mafia" (sometimes spelled "Maffia" in early texts). The Sicilian adjective mafiusu may derive from the slang Arabic mahyas (مهياص), meaning "aggressive boasting, bragging", or marfud مرفوض meaning "rejected". Roughly translated, it means "swagger", but can also be translated as "boldness, bravado". In reference to a man, mafiusu in 19th century Sicily was ambiguous, signifying a bully, arrogant but also fearless, enterprising, and proud, according to scholar Diego Gambetta.[2] In reference to a woman, however, the adjective "mafiusa" means beautiful and attractive."
I even found the Ten Commandments of Mafia. They are.....,
1. No one can present himself directly to another of our friends. There must be a third person to do it.
2. Never look at the wives of friends.
3. Never be seen with cops.
4. Don't go to pubs and clubs.
5. Always being available for Cosa Nostra is a duty - even if your wife is about to give birth.
6. Appointments must absolutely be respected.
7. Wives must be treated with respect.
8. When asked for any information, the answer must be the truth.
9. Money cannot be appropriated if it belongs to others or to other families.
10. People who can't be part of Cosa Nostra: anyone who has a close relative in the police, anyone with a two-timing relative in the family, anyone who behaves badly and doesn't hold to moral values.
KILL others?? Oh yes they do. I read more about the Mafia killing and said there are 2 types of killing.
"At night: only the mafia can kill at night. Mafia members open their eyes and agree on a civilian to kill, by pointing. The next morning, the person is dead."
"During the day: this is the only chance for the civilians to kill the mafia. If you are a civilian, talk to others, and try to figure out who is lying. If you’re a “special” civilian, use the clues you obtained to figure out who is in the mafia. If you think someone is in the mafia, accuse him. If someone “seconds” your accusation, that person will have an opportunity to defend himself. Then there is a vote. If the majority of players think the person is in the mafia, he is killed. But the mafia can also accuse and vote, just like the civilians. If you are the mafia, you should pretend you are a civilian, and try to kill off more civilians during the day. "
Hummmmmm, after reading above all, I am not sure which categories the Mafia should be. Good or bad, kind or cruel, humble or rude, mean or lovable?? Now lets see the google liver news about this generous Mafia Boss.
Taiwanese Mafia Boss Leaves Fortune to Charity on His Death Bed
By Darragh Worland Thursday, April 1, 2010 9:00 AM ET
His son donated the $1.9 million dollars in his father's name to disabled people and low-income families as well as four major religious organizations, the Taichung city government said in a statement, according to AFP.
About 1,000 people, including several gang bosses, attended a ceremony on Monday to set up a shrine for Lee where the public will be able to pay their respects.
Lee's funeral, set for late April, is expected to draw more than 20,000 people.

The acted of this Mafia family make me do the thinking. OK I have no idea or I do not know what is the purpose of this man's act.
Sometime people act according to their guilt or their thoughtful. An action like this Mafia man did, I will never know why he did what he did it.
I do have one question, can you buy heaven or good Kama (as others believe in), for yourself?? Here I remember about Cain and able, from the Holy Bible, by Wyane Blank....
"Cain and Abel were the first humans born in the usual way. Their parents, Adam and Eve, were created (see The Seven Days Of Creation) - Adam from the "red clay" of the earth, Eve from a part of Adam. Cain was the older of the two, although perhaps not by much. Some students of the Bible interpret the verse which describes their birth as meaning that they were twins. A number of other children were also born to Adam and Eve later.
Cain and Abel were born after their parents had been put out of the Garden of Eden. Cain became a worker of the soil, while Abel became a Shepherd. Back then, there were two choices for a career - you either worked with plants (growing and harvesting) or animals (raising or hunting). Millions of people today continue in these two vital professions - we could not survive without them.
When the day came to make an offering to God, Cain and Abel brought their tribute. Abel brought some of the very finest from his flocks, while Cain deliberately brought an average-quality offering from his crops. Cain could have done better, but he chose not to for some reason. Perhaps he thought that the all-knowing God would not notice.
God accepted Abel's offering with favor, but He rejected Cain's offering. It wasn't due to a preference of meat over vegetables, but rather that Abel had brought the best that he possibly could, and had done it willingly. Cain knowingly brought not his best, and even then brought it grudgingly. The very same offering would have been accepted if it had been the best that he could do, and if he had offered it with the right attitude. Abel was cooperative and generous; Cain was selfish and miserly."
I am not God so I do not know why this Mafia Man donated such huge amount of his money to the poor on his DEAD BED? But I do have one more question...Why on his DEAD BED?

Alcohol Suck??
I never seen my father, my mother, my sister or my grandmother drinking at all. Oh yes..my cousins who are still staying in Shan State, some of them can drink like a man. I should not say it but I will say it any way, I do not think they will live longer if they are not changing in drinking. I told them not to but they always laugh off so I shut my mouth off too. I guess they have nothing to do beside drinking.
For me before liver transplant, I had a glass of wine or two glasses of Champagne for social drink or business dinner but now as living with new liver, I cut them off for good!!! I am sure all the donors families will be appreciate that we, receivers not drink!!
Those who said good for to drink red wine a glass or two for to be prevented heart attack, it might but if you have other problems (ie: your family history as breast cancer), please talk to your doctor.
Here I will share alcohol new from google!!
Alcohol doesn't protect against cancer
2010-04-01 01:20:00
Contrary to the popular opinion, drinking alcohol doesn't offer any protection against cancer, say experts.
It is believed that certain types of alcohol, like red wine, can help to protect against cancer. However, researchers from Cancer Research UK insist that as little as three units a day - about a pint of premium lager or a large glass of wine - can increase the risk of breast, bowel, mouth and food pipe cancers.
The risk is limited if women drink a little, such as one small drink a day for women (about two units a day), or two small drinks a day for men (about three to four units a day). The more we cut down, the more we reduce the risk of cancer.
In the body, alcohol is converted into a toxic chemical called acetaldehyd, which gives headache in the morning but it does much more in the long-term.
Acetaldehyde can cause cancer by damaging DNA and stopping our cells from repairing this damage.
It can also lead to high levels of oestrogen, which have been linked to breast cancer. And it can cause cirrhosis of the liver, which greatly increases the risk of liver cancer, reports express.co.uk.
Alcohol can also make it easier for mouth and throat to absorb other cancer-causing chemicals, such as those in tobacco smoke. This is why smoking and drinking together increase the risk of cancer much more than either habit alone.
Red wine contains high levels of a chemical called resveratrol, which has some anti-cancer effects on laboratory-grown cancer cells. Scientists are testing purified resveratrol as a way of preventing or treating cancer. But this is a far cry from saying that drinking red wine can protect people from cancer.
'It's clear that all types of alcohol can increase the risk of cancer, including both red and white wines and based on studies done so far, there is no strong evidence that red wine could protect against cancer,' said Ed Yong, Cancer Research UK's head of health evidence.
