Nine months after my life saving liver transplant!!! Gainesville, Florida.
Welcome to the Burmese Ruby Diary; a place where I comment on the my life, the world, and assorted odds and ends from the perspective of a Burmese born woman that has been blessed in so many ways. Although my english is "unique", I hope you enjoy my blog.
For a woman born in the Golden Triangle of Southeast Asia, I have lived a full and miraculous life. I am not sure of my birthdate as records were not kept where I was born; but I do know I was able to get a college education in Rangoon Burma, get employed by the American Embassy in Burma, evenutally marry an American and begin an adventure of living all over the world as a shrimp farmer's wife. My most appreciated skill is my ability to speak my mind in nine languages. And my most rewarding hobby is the collection of gem stones. But what I am really about is the blessings I have received regarding my health and family. Both my mother and my only sister died of liver cancer at very young ages. I also was diagnosed with liver cancer two years ago; and after two operations- the last being a liver transplant, I now can fully appreciate the meaning of being alive. Not only did I change my liver during this past year; I also changed my country as I became an American Citizen. The recieving of the gift of life and the receiving citizenship from a country I greatly admire have greatly effected my perspectives and motivated me to write about my emotions, thoughts, and observations.
